The Speaker, State of Osun House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye has called on the people of the state to use the period of Christmas to pray for the state so that development, peace and security would continue to reign.
Owoeye enjoined them and people of other faith’s to take the advantage of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ to pray for peace and a Nigeria free from violence, kidnapping and insecurity.
The Speaker, in a Christmas message released by his Media Aide, Mr. Kunle Alabi urged Christians to always strive to be role models of Christ who lived and died propagating the message of love, peace and truthful co-existence among mankind.
He also asked them to reflect and rededicate themselves to the teachings and lifestyle of Christ, which were anchored on sacrifice, peace, truth and love.
Owoeye sought for prayers of Christians and others for the success of 2022 Governorship election in the state, calling on people to also supplicate for Nigeria to overcome the security challenges in the Country.
Owoeye, quoting from 1 John 4:7 said, “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God and knoweth God..
“Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us”
He held that Osun had demonstrated in very clear terms the freedom of all to choose their faiths according to their convictions adding that such understanding had assisted in promoting religious harmony in the state.
“We should at this point put our state in prayers as the state will be going into a process of choosing her Governor next year. We must seek the face of God in ensuring that we have an hitch free election. continually”.
The Speaker noted that the peace Osun is witnessing under the administration of Governor Oyetola can be associated with the prayers of all religions in the state and the commitment of government to providing good governance.
