Christmas: Time To Spread Love, Reflect On Our Deeds – Akere

The Oluomo of Igbajo, Chief Sunday Akere has urged Christians and Nigerians in general to use the Christmas period to reflect on how much love they have spread in their respective communites.

This is as he called for moderate celebration to curtail the spread of the ravaging coronavirus disease by avoiding large gathering and traveling long distance to celebrate with loved ones.

Oluomo Akere in a Christmas message issued on Friday charges Nigerians to embrace love, tolerance, perseverance and work towards uniting the country rather than emphasising disunity; stressing that the nation’s strength lies in its indivisibility.

He said “This is the time for us to reflect on how much love we have spread since the beginning of the year, we should focus on issues that unite us as a nation and race more than the ones that divides us, that is where our strength lies.

We must emulate Jesus Christ and embrace love, tolerance, perseverance and sacrifice which symbolises Christmas, as well as be an agent of hope to the needy by spreading the joy of the season to every home”.

” I also want to commend the Osun State Governor Mr Gboyega Oyetola for the proactive approach that assisted greatly in curtailing the first spread of Covid 19 in the State while imploring relevant health agencies to coordinate an early response system to the second wave of coronavirus as was done during the first wave. Since we cannot avoid a total lockdown of the economy again, we should stick to all the preventive guidelines issued by relevant agencies and we’re confident we can and we will overcome the pandemic.”

“Residents too must ensure that all Covid-19 precautionary measures by governments are observed.

“We must avoid long trips to family members and physical contact should be avoided as much as possible, put on our face mask at all times and take advantage of technology by connecting to Christmas party via telephone or video conferencing to avoid physical contact.

” We should Keep social distance from each other, wear our facemask at public places and disinfect hands regularly to prevents spread of the virus. I wish us all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year ahead.”
