New on the charts this week is MAMI WATER, a Nigerian black-and-white fantasy film written and directed by C.J. “Fiery” Obasi, based on West African folklore. The film which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, marking Obasi’s third feature to screen at Sundance as well as THE NUN.

According to Roger Elbert, “The Nun II” follows Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) five years after the first film’s events. When she befriends Debra (Storm Reid), a newbie nun in a crisis of faith, they are put to the test after the Vatican demands Irene perform another miracle.
