Clearing Agent Arraigned Over Alleged N9million Fraud

A 28-year-old Clearing Agent, Ahmed Adisa, has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate Court for allegedly duping a client of a sum of N9m in Osogbo, capital of the State of Osun.
Adisa was accused of obtaining the money from one Ademola Borode under the pretence of shipping and clearing eight Lenovo laptops to Nigeria for him.
He was also accused of threatening to kill the complainant after failing to deliver the goods.
According to the charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER on Wednesday, the accused person committed the offence on May 17, 2022 at Kobongbogoe area, Osogbo.
The alleged offence contravened Sections 422, 516, 419, 390(9) and 86 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II Laws of Osun State, 2002.
However, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the five-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, fraud and threat to life levelled against him.
Applying for the bail of the accused person, defence counsels, Sulaiman Akano and T.B Ayodele, prayed the court to admit the defendant to bail on a liberal term, promising that he would provide reliable sureties.
In his ruling, the Presiding Magistrate, O.A Daramola admitted the accused person to bail in a sum of N1m two sureties.
The case was adjourned till October 11, 2022 for hearing.
