Cleric Defies Sultan’s Directive, Observes Eid-el-Fitr Prayer With Congregation In Ilorin
An Islamic Cleric of Markaz Hilyatul Islam based in Gaa Saka in Ilorin whose name is yet to be identified on Tuesday, observed the Eid-el-Fitr prayer with his congregation.
Recall that the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, declared Wednesday the first of Shawwal and Eid, commemorating the completion of the 2024 Ramadan fast.
The council said the crescent moon was not sighted on Monday, the same view earlier espoused by Saudi Arabian authorities.
However, in what appeared to be disobedience to the Sultan’s directive, the cleric led prayers at his Juma’at mosque around 9:30 am.
