An Islamic cleric, identified as Alfa Fasasi Ola Mejabi and his younger brother were on Sunday, abducted while conveying a corpse in Kogi state.
Osun Defender gathered that the cleric and others ran to the kidnappers while conveying the corpse of the late Chief Imam of Ayegunle Gbede, Sheikh Musa Olorunkemi, from Lokoja to Ayegunle Gbede in Ijumu local government area of the state for burial.
The incident, according to one of the occupants of the car who escaped abduction occurred just after Oshokoshoko, along the Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road.
A source close to the victims disclosed that their telephone lines have been switched off since their abduction.
He however, added that the kidnappers made contact with the family on Monday morning demanding 10 million naira ransom for their release.
The State Security Adviser to the state government, Jerry Omadora confirmed the incident adding that the security agents in the state are doing everything possible to rescue them from the Kidnappers den.
