The General Superintendent of Celestial Church of Christ in Osun state, Superior Olayiwola Olamide has called on Christians in the country to always pray for leaders across all level.
He spoke during the event organised to celebrate the resurrection of Christ by the fold on Monday at the Osun state headquarters, CCC, Osogbo Cathedral.
He bemoaned the attitude of some Christians in the country who are quick to rain curses on their leaders at any given circumstances.
He said this was against the teaching of Christ and his apostles who enjoined us to always pray for those directing our affairs.
He said, “Praying for our leaders is important. The Bible makes special mention of praying for those in positions of authority. It’s important because if they rule aright or otherwise we will bear it together.
Even when we perceive them as never-mean-well people, our prayers for them are needed to have a change of mind. We should also pray for their salvation. Whether or not our leaders are Christians, we should pray that God will guide them as they guide us.
We should pray for wisdom and discerning spirits, we should shed off our bad habit of lamenting and cursing our leaders. The trend is becoming too rampant among us.
“Nigeria is still better than other countries of the world. We must hold our own dearly and pray for peace and prosperity of the country. That is what we as Christians owe the country. That’s the essence of celebrating Easter.”
He stressed that leadership positions are not always as easy as people think and yet they are often the targets of criticism.
