The students who were injured in the recent collapse of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Amphitheatre have been discharged from the hospital after spending five days receiving treatment.
The incident, which occurred on May 16, 2024, saw several students injured when the ceiling of the Amphitheatre fell off during a lecture.
Osun Defender observed that the six victims of the incident have all been discharged after receiving intensive treatment.
The incident, which occurred on the 16th of May, 2024, saw several students injured during a SER 001 class at the amphitheatre, with some others critically injured.
While speaking with Osun Defender on phone, the President of the Students Union of the University, Abass Akinremi, noted that the students are now in a good health condition.

According him, “We are delighted to report that all of the victims of the incident are fine. They have been discharged two weeks ago.”
Some of the victims, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed their gratitude to the university management and medical staff for their prompt response and care.
“I was terrified when the incident happened, but the university’s response was swift and efficient,” said one of the victims.
“I’m grateful for the care I received and the support from my fellow students.”
Another victim of the incident, said, “I couldn’t recall the exact date of my discharge, and I’m unsure who covered the hospital bill.
“I didn’t receive any bills or payments requests, so I assume it was taken care of by someone else.
“At the time of my discharge, I was in good health and had fully recovered.”
