By Nofisat Marindoti
The commissioner for Empowerment and Youth Engagement in the State of Osun, Mrs. Mofolake Adegboyega has commended Governor Rauf Aregbesola for his empowerment policies, which have put the state as a role model copied by the World Bank, Federal government and other international bodies.
Adegboyega stated this during the courtesy call of students of Ebunoluwa International Group of Schools at her office at the Government Secretariat.
The commissioner stated that with the rate of unemployment flying around, the government cannot fully cater for the employment of everyone in the state, but his empowerment policies can be complemented, if a youth is creative and empowers himself.
Emphasizing that education is key, she frowned at youths who refused
to take up any empowerment skill, but rather prefer to laze around doing nothing, adding that when a youth has good character, acquires empowerment skill, keep good friends and models, has good reputation and good leadership traits, he or she will be noticed.
She also stated that being a woman commissioner in the present government is a privilege charging the students to impact positively as future leaders by building on their skills. She also called on stakeholders to partner with the government in eradicating poverty in the State by empowering youths, because this will save the future of
everyone.
The Commissioner commended volunteers of Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme for their steadfastness in their various beats such as O’YES, O’Clean, O’YES Traffic marshal, O’YES Farm, O-Ambulance, O’YES Sherriff, ORLG among others.
