Commonwealth Games: Nigeria Boxing Team To Meet Buhari, Take Australia Training Tour

The Nigerian boxing team will be leaving on a training tour to Australia ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, head coach of the team Tony Konyegwachi has said.

This year’s Commonwealth Games will kick off by April 4 and end on April 15.

Konyegwachi said the boxers, comprising four males and four females, are expected to depart for Australia on Saturday.

“We will be heading to Australia on a training tour,” Konyegwachi said. “All things being equal, we should travel on the 10th of this month.”

The Seoul 1988 Olympic Games star also revealed that they will be meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari today (Wednesday).

“Right now we are in Abuja to see President Buhari. After our meeting with him, we will head back to Lagos to start preparation for our training tour.”
