The Construction of Kuta-Ede bridge has been flagged off by the Nigeria Army.
The commencement of the project was sequel to the effort made by the National chairman of Supreme Council of Owu Obas and Chiefs, the Olowu of Kuta, Oba Hammed Oyelude Makama who influenced Nigeria Army to build the bridge, which is the age long ambitions of Kuta and Ede communities.
Speaking at the event, Oba Oyelude said, the Kuta-Ede bridge will be named after the Chief of Army Staff, Yusuf Tukur Buratai after completion.
The monarch lauded Buratai for giving the Nigeria army direction through both direct and indirect social responsibilities, aiding interconnectivity of cities, communities and towns.
According to Olowu, “The bridge has been abandoned since 1948. Since then, the easy accessibility of Kuta to Ede and Ede to Kuta has been denied, economic and bilateral affinity adversely affected and decimated. The bridge has mapped us out of certain advantages.
“We are grateful to God for using Buratai to break the jinx, Nigeria army is constructing the bridge. We will name the bridge after Buratai on completion. I’m happy my voice is heard. This is an encouragement for me to do more. The bridge will serve all Nigerians and Nigeria if finally constructed. As a father to the nation, I will ensure the impact of my office is felt by all and sundry”, Olowu, stressed.
It could be recalled that Olowu of Kuta constructed some roads and donated street solar lights and built modern Police station and donated Patrol vehicle to the Police in his town last year through his connections with friends.
