A social group, Concerned Ikire Indigenes in Diaspora, has thrown its weight behind the ambition of Akogun Lere Oyewumi, who is aspiring to represent Osun West Senatorial District at the Senate.
President of the group, Prince Bayo Ajayi, in a statement on Wednesday, declared that Oyewumi would be supported by members of the group wholeheartedly to ensure that he wins the senatorial election in 2023.
According to Ajayi, Concerned Ikire Indigenes in Diaspora, is a nonpartisan group working for the development and progress of Ikire town.
Ajayi, a US based Entrepreneur, stated that members of the group decided to work for Oyewumi because he is an indigene, adding that Ikire is also due to have a senator since inception of the fourth republic.
He urged indigenes and residents of Ikire, Irewole local government and Osun West senatorial district in general to mobilise vote for Oyewumi, maintaining that he is a quality candidate to support.
Ajayi described Oyewumi as a humble and upright politician who has the prerequisite to effectively represent Osun West Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
He said: “Concerned Ikire Indigenes in Diaspora is an apolitical group. We are not partisan. What we are after is humanitarian services and we are very committed to the development and progress of Ikire, our hometown. We have always been supporting the community and every indigene who meant well for the town.
“This is why we are supporting the ambition of Akogun Lere Oyewumi to become the senator representing Osun West Senatorial District at the senate. Ikire is due to have a Senator and we will have it this time around.
“We believe in quality leadership and this is what Akogun Lere Oyewumi represents. He has the pedigree to represent us well. He is a former member of House of Representatives, a two-term Local Government Chairman, former ALGON Chairman and former Federal Commissioner of National Population Census (NPC).
“He is the most qualified to represent our senatorial district at the 10th Assembly. He will use his vast knowledge and wealth of experience to paddle the canoe to a greater height.”
