Confusion Over Ooni’s Alleged Divorce Saga

There have been twist and turns on the alleged divorce saga between the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi and his wife, Olori Wuraola Zainab, as the monarch has debunked the claims that their 17 month-old marriage has crashed.

It went viral on Tuesday, how the marriage purportedly crashed. While some reports attributed the crash in the marriage to the allegation of infidelity leveled against the wife of the monarch by his husband, some hinted that the marriage originally started on a shaky note, as they hardly knew each other in detail before getting married.

Some reports even concluded that by the countenance of the monarch, it might be difficult to resolve the purported differences between them.

But contrary to the reports, an Ife High Chief who spoke with OSUN DEFENDER in the palace, debunked the claims that the marriage had hit the rock.

The chief who spoke anonymously claimed that it is sacrilegious to make a matter of privacy involving the monarch a public issue, said that it was all a tissue of lies.

He revealed that Olori Wuraola is not the only queen of the revered monarch, as she had seniors, who are in the palace but live quiet lives and they are doing well in their fields of endeavours.

According to him, the most senior is a business tycoon while another Olori Omolara is into property and estate management as well.

The source stated that nobody had ever heard or settled rancor with Kabiyesi and his queens, as he is peaceful and loving.

The high chief queried that matters of marriage and relationship are private affairs and even if there are minor disagreements between couples, it is not a matter to be settled on social media or pages of newspaper.

He said, “The stool of Oba, as a custodian of Yoruba culture is polygamous in nature and as custodian of the Yoruba values and culture, a revered monarch, cannot be forced to be monogamist.

“All the queens of Ooni are at home and Kabiyesi did not divorce or put away any of them.

The source therefore advised the public to disregard the rumour, as such issue did not arise as speculated.
