Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Odo-Otin Local Government of the State of Osun have accused officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of compromised on the party’s Ward Congress.
According to the APC members, the INEC officials posted to some of the Wards in the Local Government, refused to collect the result of the party’s congress held in their presence and witnessed by officers of the Department of State Services and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The APC members commended the DSS and NSCDC officials for ‘displaying professionalism and fairness in the conduct of the congress in Ward 7, 9, 14 and 15, Oyan.
The results of the election were collected by DSS and NSCDC officials, even as INEC officials refused to collect it.
Speaking with the medium, a leader of the APC in Oyan, Mr Jide Zubair said: “We held our congress in the presence of security agents and INEC officials. Some hired political thugs came and attempted to disrupt the congress but they retreated when they discovered that the party members were resolute and more than them.
“Members of the IleriOluwa group were also at the collation centre, St Paul Anglican Primary School, Oyan and they could testify to the orderliness of our people.
“But we discovered that the INEC officials have been compromised. We held the election in their presence but they do not show interest in the congress. I went to them to ask why they put up such behaviour and he told me some people were not supposed to be at the venue of the congress. The INEC officials came in company of six members of IleriOluwa group.
“I must commend the DSS and NSCDC officers for their professionalism. They followed the congress till the end and they collected results.
