Constituents Declare Fasting, Prayer For Osun Lawmaker Over Non-Performance
…I’m Giving My People Good, Quality Representation – Lawmaker
A group of young individuals from Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State, Oris Solidarity Forum, has called out the lawmaker representing Oriade State Constituency, Hon. Kanmi Ajibola over what they described as poor performance in office.
The forum declared a 3-day fast and intense prayer, noting that the lawmaker had neglected the people who voted for him.
The forum in a statement signed by one of its leaders, Sodiq Lawal, said the constituency has suffered in the last year, adding that several attempts to call the lawmaker’s attention to the issue did not work.
The forum disclosed that it is shocking that Kanmi Ajibola, a lawyer and someone who has desired to be a state legislator since 2007, could be incommunicado and have no records of communal engagements with his people.
The statement further read, “The forum acknowledged that the only participation of Kanmi Ajibola that is known to the constituents is the change of the state slogan and logo, which have no impact on the constituency.
“While appealing to the public to participate in the fasting and prayers for the benefit of Oriade constituency, the forum stated that there’s a possibility that there are some dark forces possibly responsible for this sad development, and as a constituency whose belief lies in God, we are not ready to joke with possible spiritual struggles.
“We resort to God after every attempt to awaken our beloved legislator does not work. Our people are suffering in silence. Being neglected for a whole year in this hard economy is very worrisome. We ask you all to join us in the fast and intense prayers.”
When contacted, the lawmaker, Hon Ajibola said the allegations were not true, noting that he has been performing as expected.
He said, “There are lot of enemies within in the politics and the opposition who are hellbent on saying what is not. I’ve been doing what is expected of me as a lawmaker.
“I’ve been performing my responsibility as a House of Assembly member and I’m giving Oriade good and quality representation.
“I engaged a lot of people in my constituency and I’ve provided job for some of them. It’s a first of its kind which as never happened before among all the people that have represented Oriade at the Assembly.”
