CONTROVERSIES have trailed the Action Alliance (AA) party petitions, challenging the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party candidates in the February 25 National Assembly election, in the State of Osun.
It would be recalled that PDP won the three senatorial and nine House of Representative seats in the state.
The victory, however, is being challenged by the AA at election petition tribunal that will hear cases emanating from the National and State Assembly elections in the state.
Secretary of the tribunal, Mohammed Magaji, on Tuesday, said AA has filed a petition against the three senatorial and nine House of Representatives results.
But Chairman of the party, Ogunmodede Adeloye, dissociated the party from the legal action, saying that those who filed the petitions were not members of the party.
Adeloye who spoke at a press conference in Osogbo on Wednesday, said the National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Think Tank Committee (NTTC) of the party have directed him to engage the services of a lawyer to immediately withdraw the said petitions.
He said: “It came to the notice of the National Secretariat of our party some days ago that some disgruntled elements parading themselves as the senatorial candidates and House of Assembly candidates of AA in Osun state filed some petitions at the tribunal on the National Assembly Elections conducted on February 25, 2023.
“Action Alliance wish to notify good people of Osun state that the said petitions are not to our knowledge and the persons who filed them are not members of our party at any time.
“More so, the petitioners were never fielded as respective candidates of our party for the respective elections they are purportedly challenging.
“Sequel to this, the National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Think Tank Committee (NTTC) of Action Alliance have directed me, Hon. Adeloye, to engage the services of a lawyer or team of lawyers to immediately withdraw the said petitions”.
