As the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife is holding the institution’s 47th Convocation Ceremonies, the Students Union of the university has confirmed multiple reports of theft cases on campus.
In a statement jointly signed by the Students Union President, Abbas Akinremi, Secretary-General, Akinboni Opeyemi and Public Relations Officer, Omisore Elijah, on Thursday, the union confirmed that the union received multiple reports of phone theft at multiple locations on campus.
The Students Union leaders, however, urged the students to be extra vigilant and report unfamiliar faces around them.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the university has graduated 7,896 students during the institution’s 47th Convocation programmes.
This medium recalls that the Vice-chancellor of the University, Prof. Simeon Bamire, had disclosed on Monday while addressing journalists at the university’s that 158 students of the University bagged First Class degrees at the institution’s 47th Convocation programmes.
Bamire explained that in Bachelor Degrees, 158 made First Class (Honours), while 1,970 made 2nd Class (Honours, Upper Division).
According to him, 2,906 made 2nd Class (Honours, Lower Division), while 942 in 3rd Class (Honours) category and 65 graduands are on pass category.
The VC stated that the school has a total of 7,986 graduates for its 2023 convocation ceremonies.
