Council Bosses Charge NYSC Members On National Development, Security

The Chairman of Atakumosa West Central Local Council Development Area, Honourable Anthony Adeboye and his counterpart from Ayedaade Local Government, Hon. Abdulateef Adewale have charged the National Youth Service Corps members across the country to see their one year mandatory service as a call to service by contributing their own quota to national development.

Adeboye and Adewale gave the charges in their various council secretariats in Ifewara and Gbongan respectively while receiving the Batch A 2017/2018 corps members posted to the councils.

Adeboye who urged the corps members to serve their fatherland with dedication, diligence, loyalty and sense of patriotism enjoined them to feel at home and feel free to relate with people of their host community whom he described as kind, loving and friendly.

While assuring them that their security and welfare would be given topmost priority, the council boss admonished the corps members to be law abiding citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Hon. Adeboye warned them to shun partisan politics and urged them to be faithful, loyal and honest in whatever capacity they are called upon to serve their country.

He encouraged them to be enterprising, resourceful and visionary and that they should see beyond their primary assignment.

The council helmsman cited the example of an ex-corps member in lfewara who, aside his primary assignment acquired acres of virgin land and ventured into a large scale farming and has now settled in the ancient town as a successful farmer after his service year.

Responding, the council’s Corpers’ Liaison Officer ( CLO), Mr. Victor Afolayan thanked the council authority for the warm reception accorded the new corps members and promised that they  would always uphold the ideals of the NYSC.

Besides, the Chairman, Ayedaade Local Government, Hon. Abdulateef Adewale assured the corps members in his council of the government commitment to guarantee their security, urging them to also be security-conscious.

The council boss further advised the corps members to be hardworking and committed to duty, just as he encouraged them to cooperate with their bosses when they get to their places of primary assignment.

Alhaji Yinusa Olalekan, the Ayedaade council manager, in his address advised the corps members to manage their time and use their service year to achieve something tangible.

The council manager advised them to ensure that they gainfully engage themselves through appropriate entrepreneurship before expecting what the government would do.

One of the corps members, Iheanacho Edward appreciated the Ayedaade council chairman and the council manager for their words of encouragement, assuring that they would take to the advice given to them.
