The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to release businesswoman and socialite, Aisha Achimugu, within 24 hours.

Justice Inyang Ekwo gave the directive on Wednesday and instructed that all parties involved, including the EFCC, must return to court on May 2, 2025, to report compliance.

Achimugu had been arrested by the EFCC at 5am on Tuesday at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport over allegations of money laundering, fraud, and conspiracy.

Previously released on administrative bail, she was later declared wanted by the EFCC for allegedly jumping bail.

The commission claims she operates 136 bank accounts and that over N8.7 billion passed through her accounts, allegedly used to acquire two oil blocks worth over $25 million through Ocean Gate Engineering Oil and Gas Limited.

The EFCC alleges the oil block acquisitions were marred by bribery and that the funds used were not traceable to legitimate income.
