A magistrate Court in Osogbo, Osun state, has sentenced a 24-year-old man, Azeez Agboola, to 24 months imprisonment over alleged theft.
The convict was arraigned on a two-count charge bothering on felony and stealing.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Fagboyinbo Abiodun told the court that the accused person committed the offence on the 21st February, 2018, at about 2:00pm at Agunbelewo area in Osogbo.
According to the prosecutor, the convict broke and entered into the house of one Abdul-Raham Hamidu with intent to commit felony.
He also said that Azeez stole one tiger generator valued N16,000, one standing fan valued N10,500 naira, one aluminum shelf valued N6,000 and one cooking gas valued N2,600, with total items valued N35,000 property of one Abdul-Rahman Hamidu.
Abiodun further stated that the convict committed the offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 and under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.11 Laws of Osun State, Nigeria 2003.
The convict pleaded guilty to the two-count charge preferred against him.
The defence counsel, Mr Okobe Najite urged the court to temper justice with mercy by reducing the punishment of his client.
The Magistrate, Mr O.T Badmus thereby sentenced Azeez to one year and two months imprisonment.
