Three men have been sentenced to various jail terms by a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, for stealing aluminium frames from Olumo Rock Tourist Centre and receiving stolen property.

The convicts, Ridwan Oloyede, Leke Oluwasegun Leke and Seye Ogunsola, were found guilty of different offences connected to the theft.

Delivering judgment on Thursday, Magistrate I.O. Ogunfemi held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

Oloyede was convicted of break-in and stealing.

He was sentenced to 42 months’ imprisonment, 30 months for breaking into the facility and 12 calendar months without an option of fine for stealing aluminium frames belonging to Olumo Rock Tourist Centre.

The court ordered that the sentences run consecutively.

Oluwasegun and Ogunsola were convicted on a two-count charge of conspiracy and receiving stolen property.

They were each sentenced to five years’ imprisonment — three years for conspiracy and two years for receiving stolen property — with the terms to run consecutively.

Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Adewusi Ojo, told the court that the offences were committed on January 22, 2025, at Olumo Rock in the Ikija area of Abeokuta.

He said Oloyede unlawfully broke into the tourist facility and stole aluminium frames valued at N720,000.

According to the prosecution, Oluwasegun and Ogunsola intercepted Oloyede while he was fleeing with the items and questioned him about their source.

Oloyede reportedly confessed that the frames were stolen from the tourist centre.

Ojo said the duo collected the items from him, warned him not to disclose the incident, and later conspired to sell the aluminium frames to a scrap dealer despite knowing they were stolen.

He added that the offences contravened Sections 411, 383, 390, 516 and 427 of the Criminal Code Law of Ogun State, 2006.
