An Osogbo Magistrate court on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, remanded four persons in Ilesa prison custody over alleged armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms.
The accused persons include Kehinde Badmus 43, Adeleke Timothy 40, Akoodu Femi Rufus 40, and Adenle Olusola Babatunde 40, and are facing nine-count charge on robbery and unlawful possession.
The Prosecutor, Insp. J. Iloko informed the court that the accused persons and others now at large had between January, 2015 and December 13, 2017 at about 08:00pm, conspired among themselves to commit armed robbery, an offence contrary to section 6(b) and punishable under Section (1) of the robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap RII Vol. 14 laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
He added that the accused persons robbed one Olufemi Ayoade Olulade of his Toyota Corolla with Registration number AAA 405 BV, valued N1.8m, a Toyota Camry car belonging to Nasiru Olanike Fatima with Reg. No. EKY 982 CK, valued N1m, and a Toyota Corolla car belonging to Bamidele Babatunde with Reg. No. GGE 660 DJ, valued N1.7m.
Other properties stolen by the suspects included; Toyota Corolla car belonging to Alao Abimbola with Reg. No. GNN 815 AO, valued N1.6m, a Toyota Corolla car belonging to Azeez Dauda with Reg. No. EDT 912 AA, valued N1.1m, and Toyota Corolla car belonging to Ayemoro Makanjuola with Reg. No. APP 424 AL, valued N1.7m.
The charge further disclosed that the first accused person illegally possessed a local made double barrel gun, an offence punishable under section 3(1) of the robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap RII Vol. 14 laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The pleas of the accused persons were not taken because of the magnitude of charges against them.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr O.T Badmus ordered the accused person to be remanded in Ilesa prison custody and adjourned the case till April 20, 2018 for mention.
