An Osogbo magistrate’s court has remanded a 43-year-old man, Mufutau Oyediran in Ilesa Correctional Centre for allegedly committing fraud on a plot of land.
Oyediran, according to the charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER yesterday, obtained the sum of N1, 100,000 from one Abdulrafiu Amusat on the pretence of securing a plot of land for him.
The suspect allegedly committed the offence on September 13, 2020 at UNIOSUN Road, Oke Baale, Osogbo, capital of the State of Osun.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Razak Olayiwola told the court that Oyediran cheated Amusat by collecting money from him without selling land to him.
But the suspect pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge of fraud, stealing and cheating.
The prosecutor said the alleged offence contravened Sections 419, 390(9) and 421 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.
Defence Counsel, Okobe Nagite applied for the bail of the accused person.
The magistrate, Mrs. Modupe Awodele, turned down the bail application and ordered the remand of the suspect.
She adjourned till December 21, 2020 for ruling on bail.
