A prophet at the Celestial Church of Christ, Ona Iye Parish, Ijebu Ijesa Road, Ijeda Ijesa, Olukayode Omirin, has been remanded in the Ilesa correctional centre by a magistrate court.
Ominrin was arraigned before the court in Ilesa on Tuesday for allegedly raping a student of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Yemisi Ogunmodede (not her real name).
The prophet allegedly committed the offence on January 4, 2024, at his church in Ijeda-Ijesa, around 9 pm.
Ogunmodede, according to the charge sheet made available to OSUN DEFENDER yesterday, was in the prophet’s church for prayer when he was raped.
The police stated that the offence contravened Section 2(2) of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of Osun State 2021, and Section 32 of the Child’s Rights Laws of Osun State 2007.
But the accused person pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge levelled against him.
The Magistrate, A. Ayeni, ordered that the prophet be remanded at Ilesa Correctional Centre.
Ayeni transferred the case to the Magistrate court at Ijebu-Ijesa.
