A Magistrate Court in Osogbo, capital of the State of Osun has remanded a 32-year old fake soldier, Abu Jonah who falsely presented himself to be a lieutenant in the Nigerian army in prison custody.
Prosecutor Oladoye Joshua told the court that accused committed the offence between the year 2016 and the 9th day of January, 2018.
Joshua said the accused unlawfully had in his possession, Nigerian Army uniform, boots, belt with forged identity cards, name tags and rank.
The Prosecutor said Jonah also collected N180,000 from one Abdulwaheed Yusuf, N100,000 from one Aduragbemi Adebowale, N32,000 from one Jegede Aderemi and N19,000 from one Selore Oluwaseun under the pretense of securing jobs for them at the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps,
He added that the offences are contrary to section 465 and punishable under sections 430(1), 467, 484 and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002 and also contrary to section 1(1)(c) and punishable under section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other related offences Act 2006.
The plea of the accused was not taken.
In his ruling, Magistrate O A Ayilare ordered that the accused be remanded in Ilesa prison custody and adjourned the case till February 2nd, 2018.
