A magistrate court sitting in Osogbo last Friday remanded four men in Ilesa prison custody over alleged stealing of residents’ property in Osogbo capital of Osun States.
The suspects include; Fatai Mumini, 40; Rafiu Akeem, 20; Omisakin Sunday, 20; and Ogunniran Opeyemi, 19.
The suspects appeared before the court on a four-count charge bothering on conspiracy and stealing.
It was gathered that the accused persons were caught with a life sheep and also fought vigilantes with incantation “ofo” before they were apprehended.
Addressing the court, the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Rasaq Olayiwola, said the accused committed the offence on February 28, 2018, at about 3:45am at Isale Osun area of the state capital.
The prosecutor said the accused person conspired to steal the following items: four DVD players, one stabiliser, one DSTV decoder, one television, one guitar, two play station, two laptops, one plasma television, one old television, two keyboard, two standing fan, one CPU, two speakers, one sheep, one unregistered jincheng motorcycle, one butterfly sewing machine.
Rasaq said the accused also stole one Guitar belonging to one Union Baptist Church, Odi-Olowo, Osogbo valued N150,000.
According to the Prosecutor, the offence is contrary to and punishable under Sections 516,430,390(9)and 415 of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11 laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.
The first and the fourth accused persons pleaded guilty while the second and third accused persons pleaded not guilty to the first- count charge. Moreover, they all pleaded not guilty to the second, third and fourth-count charge slammed against them.
Counsel to all the accused persons, Okobe Najite sought bail for the accused and asked that the conditions be made bearable.
The Magistrate, Mr Olusegun Ayilara remanded the accused in Ilesa prison custody.
The case was adjourned till April 4, 2018 for hearing.
