By Sukurat AdewumiA Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo has remanded a 22-year-old, Akanmu Waheed in prison custody over alleged stealing.
The charge sheet read in court disclosed that the suspect stole one Tecno phone valued N7, 500, property of Azeez Lawal and one hand bag containing the sum of N22, 500, property of Ajimotu Olalekan.
The offence committed, the charge sheet revealed is contrary to section 390 (9) of criminal code 34 VOL. II Law of Osun State Nigeria, 2003.
According to the charge sheet, the suspect committed the alleged offence at Oke-baale, Osogbo on September 20, 2018 about 2am.
However the suspect pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The prosecutor, Inspector Rasaq Olayiwola said the accused was charged for a similar case at the magistrate court 5 last month.
He said, if the accused is not properly punished, he will repeat the same thing.
Defence counsel, Mr. Okobe Najite said the court should temper justice with mercy, that the suspect’s wife is pregnant and she is about to put to bed, adding that if the suspect is sent to prison, the wife and the unborn baby will suffer alot.
He submitted that, the prosecutor do not have enough evidence to prove that the suspect committed such offence last month.
Presiding Magistrate, Mr. O.O. Oladoke ordered that the accused should be remanded in Ilesa prison custody.
She later adjourned the case to November 3, 2018 for judgment.
