The police in Osun State on Monday, August 6, 2018 arraigned two niqab sisters, and two other men before an Osogbo Magistrate court for assaulting a woman Police Inspector.
The suspects include; Akorede Romoke, 30 year old female, Akorede Ajibola 35 year old female, Adebayo Sodiq 19 year old male, and Najeem Ibrahim 45 year old.
The accused were docked on four count charges bothering on Conspiracy, Assault to wit occassioning harm.
The prosecutor Inspector Olayiwola Rasaq informed the court that the defendants and others at large committed the offence on August 4 at about 8.30 at Arogunmosa area, Oke Baale in Osogbo.
He explained that the suspects beat up Inspector Oluwole Grace and Adeyeye Muideen while they are performing their lawful duties.
The defendants used plank and stone to inflict injuries on the head of Muideen Adeyeye who came to rescue Inspector Grace.
Inspector Rasaki stressed further that the accused persons caused breach of the peace by using weapons like planks and stones to inflict injury on the Police Officers.
The prosecutor submitted that the offence contravene section 516, section 356(2)(5) section 355 and section 24(a)(b) of the criminal code cap 34 volume 11.laws of Osun State 2003.
The suspects pleaded not guilty to the four count charges alleged against them by the police.
The defence counsel Tunde Adedokun quickly made an oral application for the bail of the four defendants in the most liberal and affordable terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adedoyin Modupe Awodele granted them bail of N200,000 each with two sureties.
One of the sureties must be a civil servant. Sureties must swear to affidavit of means and the addresses must be verified by the police.
Despite the bail, they were remanded simply because their bails were not perfected.
The case was adjourned to August 27 for hearing.
