Two suspects Mustapha Sharif, 39, and Lukman Isiaka, 36, were last Monday remanded in Ilesa prison by an Osogbo Magistrate court over the alleged Korope theft. The prosecutor, Olayiwola Rasaq told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on June 22, 2017, at Owode Ilesa, Osogbo.
The charge sheet disclosed that the accused person and others at large conspired among themselves to commit a felony to with stealing and committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the state criminal code. It further disclosed that the accused person converted to their own, one mini-bus with registration number GNN 982 XB without the consent of the owner and sold the minibus to Oni Abiodun at the rate of N600,000,00 and did not remit the money to the owner thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 390 (9) of the state penal code 2003.
It further disclosed that the accused persons forged the document of the minibus with the name of Oni Abiodun without the consent of the owner and committed the offence contrary to and punishable under section 390 (9) and 467 of the state criminal code 2003. The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the three count charge levelled against them.
The defence counsel Mr. Okobe Najite prayed the court to grant the accused person bail in most affordable terms. The presiding magistrate Oloyade A.G ordered that the accused persons should be remanded at Ilesa prison pending the formal application for his bail.
She then adjourned the case till 6th of November 2017 for hearing.
