Court Rules 34 Month Jail Term To Man Who Raped Dying Teen

20-year-old Brian Varela who gave drugs to his girlfriend then raped her as she lay dying, after which he sent photos of her naked body to his friends to mock her, has been jailed for 34  months a verdict the judge has revealed to be inadequate.

Varela pleaded guilty to 2nd Degree Manslaughter, 3rd Degree Rape, and Unlawful Disposal of Remains. He confessed to raping 18-year-old Alyssa Noceda last February while she overdosed on drugs in his bedroom. He did nothing to help her but went ahead to take photos of her naked body and sent to his friends, mocking her as she lay there dying.

He then tried to cover up Noceda’s death by disposing of her body, but police caught him first.

In court, Varela said: “I’m sorry for my foolish actions. Whatever I get is what I deserve.”

The girl’s family demanded the death sentence but the court judge had her hands tied by state laws when it came to sentencing. Varela could be out of prison in under two years for good behaviour and time spent.

The girl’s mother called the sentence a “joke” and even the judge complained the state mandated sentence was “inadequate”.
