AN Osun State High Court has sacked a traditional ruler, Oba Johnson Ajiboye, the Olola of Ola in the Ejigbo Local Government area of the state.
Ajiboye was appointed by Governor Ademola Adeleke on January 3, 2024.
Findings by OSUN DEFENDER revealed that there was a pending suit restraining orders on the Olola stool as of the time Ajiboye was appointed.
Following the incident, the Olugbode ruling house who is laying claim to the stool approached the court with a prayer to sack Ajiboye.
Represented by David Salako and Kola Sangoniran, the ruling house filed a motion with suit number HEJ/3/2020, seeking Ajiboye’s removal and nullification of his appointment by Adeleke.
The presiding Judge, Justice Lawrence Arojo, granted the six interlocutory injunctions in the motion filed by the ruling house on March 25, 2024, over alleged illegality.
Commenting on the development, the ruling house, through its lawyer, Fatimah Adeshina, confirmed that the Olola stool has been declared vacant by the court order.
The ruling house had also petitioned Osun Police Command, asking the security agency to prevent possible anarchy in the community.
According to the ruling house in the petition dated April 10, “the deposed king is planning to confer chieftaincy title on some people at the Olola of Ola’s palace.
“We shall be grateful if you will use your good office to prevent the planned programme and disobedience to court orders. This is to avoid the impending breakdown of law and order, possible killing and maiming that may erupt.”
