Court Sentences 22-Year-Old- Man For Housebreaking

A  Magistrate Court in Osogbo, Osun State has sentenced Sipianu Umar to a year and six months imprisonment for burglary and malicious damage of an aluminum window frame valued N15,000.

Sipianu, who was confronted with two-count charge bothering on housebreaking and malicious damage, pleaded guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Fagboyinbo Abiodun told the court that the accused person committed the offence on March 12, at about 3.30 pm at Ayetoro Layout, Dada Estate in Osogbo.

Fagboyinbo said the defendant broke into the house of the complainant, Obi Omonah with intent to commit felony.

He stressed further that the suspect maliciously damaged aluminum window frame which belongs to Obi Omonah.

He explained that the offence is contrary to and punishable under section 411 and 451 of the criminal code cap 34 volume 11.laws of Osun State 2002.

Counsel to be accused person, Mr Okobe Najite prayed the court to temper justice with mercy in sentencing his client

The Magistrate, Mr Olusegun Ayilara thereby sentenced Sipianu to one year imprisonment on  count one with options of N15,000 and six months imprisonment on count two with options of N10,000.
