•Oyetola Providing Quality Health Facilities On Containment – Isamotu

Osogbo, the capital of the State of Osun,
has the highest number of people who
have contracted Coronavirus, investigations have revealed.
In a data obtained by OSUN DEFENDER last Wednesday, Osogbo accounted for 49.1 per cent of the COVID-19 cases recorded in the state so far.
According to the data provided by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu, a total of 2,353 suspected cases of COVID-19 were reported in the state as at Wednesday, July 29, 2020.
Of the 2,353; 463 (20 %) were confirmed in 19 local government areas, where Osogbo, which has two major local governments has the highest figure, becoming the epicentre of COVID-19 in the state.
One thousand, eight hundred and twenty-six (1,826), which is 78 % of the suspected Coronavirus cases were negative while the results of 64 (2 %) tests conducted were pending.
From the data, Osogbo local government has 139 confirmed COVID-19 cases, followed by Olorunda(106), Ife Central (36), Egbedore (32), Ejigbo (26), Ilesa East (32), Ede South (25), Ilesa West (12),Ife East (16), Irewole (10), Iwo (6), Isokan (5), AtakunmosaWest (4), Oriade (4), Boripe (2), Ede North (1), Ola-Oluwa (1), Ila (1) and Irepodun (1).
Out of the 463 positive cases, 223 patients (48 %) have been discharged, while 11 (3%) deaths have been recorded.
As at the time of filing this report, 230 (49 %) patients were still receiving treatment at designated COVID-19 treatment centres.
Speaking on the recorded cases, Isamotu stated that the state government has been curtailing the spread of the Coronavirus efficiently, saying that it is evident in the number of cases recorded so far.
Isamotu added that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has provided quality health facilities, personal protective equipment and incentives for health workers for effective treatment of COVID-19 patients and management of the virus.
He appealed to citizens and residents of the state to always observe all the precautionary measures laid down by the state against the spread of the virus.
The commissioner said: “The government has been making frantic effort to curtail the virus and if you observe very well, you will know that the proactive measures taken by Governor Adegboyega Oyetolareally help in the management of the virus.
“Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has provided all what is needed, including incentives to health workers to effectively manage the virus.
“My advice to our people is that they should adhere strictly to the health guidelines reeled out by the state government and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on the curtailing of COVID-19.
“Our people should wear face mask, wash their hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizers. They should observe physical distancing and avoid any gathering of any type during this Eid period. In summary our people should adhere strictly to the guidelines.
“Nobody is sure of anything. Everybody is a suspect in the situation we are now, and that is why each and everyone of us must stay safe and follow the precautionary measures.”
