CRIME: Court Remands 7 For Alleged Armed Robbery In Osun

An Osogbo Magistrate Court has ordered the remand of seven persons in Ilesa prison custody over alleged armed robbery.
The suspects are, Olorunisomo Gbenga, 21; Dada Ayomide, 20; Yisa Mufutau, 23; Adeoti Saheed, 22; Rasheed Suleiman, 20; Kehinde Olanrewaju, 27; and Badmus Kayode, 21.
They were arraigned on a six-count charge bothering on robbery, conspiracy, and unlawful possessions of arms.
The Magistrate, Mrs. Fatimoh Sodamade, ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody without taking their pleas due to the magnitude of the offences committed.
The Prosecutor, Mr Mustapha Tajudeen, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on December 31, 2017 at about 2:30 p.m, within Osogbo environs.
Tajudeen said the accused conspired among themselves to rob Azeez Waheed, Adedeji Ridwan, Giwa Olalade, and Fagbemi Isaac of some items.
“The culprits carted away a Blackberry phone, Android phone, power bank, Infinix phone, Samsung mobile phone, Itel phone and ATM cards with some cash sum of N25,000 among other items .”
He said the accused armed themselves with guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.
According to him, “the accused were arrested by the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, State CID, Osogbo and the squad made it known that an English made 8 rounds revolver pistol was recovered from Yisa Mufutau.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 1(1)(2)(a)(b) and 6(b) and punishable under Section 1(1) of the robbery and firearms (Special Provisions) Act cap R11 Vol.14 laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The case was subsequently adjourned to March 28 for mention.
