A 45-year-old man, Mufutau Jimoh has been sentenced to 18-month imprisonment for confessing to stealing items worth over N.8million.
The charge sheet disclosed that the suspect and others at large conspired among themselves to commit felony to wit shop breaking and stealing which is contrary to and punishable under section 516 of criminal Code Ccap 34 Vol.11 of Osun State of Nigeria.
It stated that the suspect broke into the shop of one Ogunwale Adekunle and stole items like 20 pieces of wedding rings valued N30,000, 13 pieces of trainers valued N18,000, 18 pieces of belt valued N25,000 and 150 pieces of round neck shirt valued N225,000.
Other items stolen by the culprit includes, stock round neck valued N35,000, 50 pieces of shoes valued N45,000, 5 pieces of leather belt valued N20,000, 5 pieces of singlet valued N7,500 and 12 pieces of cap valued N30,000
The suspect was also alleged of stealing foodstuffs, soaps and provision valued atN100,000 property of one Ayansola Ganiyat
According to the charge sheet, the suspect perpetrated the act between March 11 and 20, 2019 at about 10pm-5am at Oke-Baale area Osogbo in Osun State.
The suspect, who was not represented by a counsel pleaded guilty to the four counts charge filed against him.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr. O.T Badmus, having found the culprit guilty as charged sentenced him to 16 month on count one, 18 months on counts two and three and six month on count four, adding the all the sentences should run concurrently.
