A 17-year-old girl, Abiola (not real name), has been allegedly raped by her uncle on Monday night at Ilobu, headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area of the State of Osun.
The father o the victim, Mr. Toyin Olaniyi, who spoke with OSUN DEFENDER via a telephone interview on Wednesday, confirmed the incident.
Olaniyi said: “It is true that the event occurred, my daughter was raped by her uncle.”
But the father refused to mention the name of the victim’s uncle, just as her mother had also been frustrating legal actions on the matter.
Olaniyi disclosed that the issue had generated controversies between him and his in-laws, saying that there were pressures on him not to prosecute the matter.
He said he caught his brother raping his daughter while other people were watching and filming the action.
According to him, he alerted operatives of the Amotekun corps, who arrested two of the suspects after they had fled the scene.
The two persons who were arrested were reportedly taken to Ojutu Police Station in Ilobu.
It was gathered that the mother of the victim went to the police station and demanded that the case would be treated within the family, just as she reportedly blamed her husband for getting the suspects arrested.
The suspects, according to sources, were released on bail on Tuesday night when the victim’s mother was persistent in mounting pressure on the police.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Osun Command, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, said she was not aware of the matter.
