Cuba Neutralises American Terrorists, Detain Others
Cuba’s Ministry of Interior has confirmed that authorities neutralised four armed individuals and detained several others following what it described as an attempted terrorist infiltration into the country’s territorial waters.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the incident occurred in the early hours of February 25, 2026, in the northeastern area of the El Pino channel at Cayo Falcones, Corralillo municipality, Villa Clara province.
According to an official note released by the Ministry, a speedboat registered in the State of Florida, United States, with registration number FL7726SH, was detected navigating within Cuban territorial waters.
The vessel reportedly approached to within one nautical mile northeast of the El Pino channel before being intercepted by Cuban forces.
The statement said, “A patrol vessel of the Border Guard Troops of the Ministry of the Interior, carrying five service members, was dispatched to identify the suspicious craft.”
Authorities said that upon approach, the crew aboard the speedboat opened fire on the Cuban patrol, injuring the commander of the Cuban vessel during the exchange.
Cuban officials stated that the confrontation resulted in the deaths of four of the alleged aggressors. Six others sustained injuries and were subsequently evacuated for medical treatment. The condition of the wounded Cuban officer was not immediately disclosed.
In an update issued later, authorities revealed that the intercepted boat was carrying 10 armed individuals who, according to preliminary statements from those detained, intended to carry out an infiltration for terrorist purposes.
Items reportedly seized from the vessel included assault rifles, handguns, improvised explosive devices such as Molotov cocktails, body armor, telescopic sights, and camouflage uniforms. Officials described the cache as evidence of premeditated hostile intent.
The Ministry also identified six detained suspects as Amijail Sánchez González, Leordan Enrique Cruz Gómez, Conrado Galindo Sariol, José Manuel Rodríguez Castelló, Cristian Ernesto Acosta Guevara, and Roberto Azcorra Consuegra.
Michel Ortega Casanova was named among the deceased, while efforts are ongoing to confirm the identities of the remaining three individuals killed in the operation.
The statement further added that, “All participants are Cuban nationals residing in the United States. According to preliminary findings, most of the suspects have prior records involving criminal and violent activities. Two of the detainees were said to appear on Cuba’s National List of individuals and entities designated under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1373 and relevant Cuban legislation for alleged links to terrorist acts.”
In a related development, Cuban national Duniel Hernández Santos was arrested within Cuban territory.
It was gathered that Santos was sent from the United States to facilitate the landing and reception of the armed group and has since confessed to his involvement.
”The Ministry reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial waters, noting that investigations remain ongoing to fully establish the facts surrounding the attempted infiltration.
“This was a serious and premeditated act of aggression against our sovereignty. Our Border Guard Troops acted in strict compliance with established protocols to repel the attack and protect our territorial integrity.
“The individuals involved were heavily armed and demonstrated clear hostile intent when they opened fire on our patrol vessel. The swift response of our forces prevented what could have been a far more dangerous scenario for the population and for regional stability.
“Cuba reiterates that national defense is a fundamental pillar of the State. We will not tolerate actions that threaten the peace, security and constitutional order of our country, regardless of where such acts are planned or financed.
“Investigations will continue until all those responsible, including collaborators and financiers, are identified and brought to justice in accordance with national legislation and international law,” the statement stresses further.
