Cultists Attack Corps Member In Bayelsa

A corps member has lost his hand at the youth corps members’ lodge at Angalabiri community, Sagbama Local Government of Bayelsa State after suspected cultists over the weekend attacked the quarters and in the process, chopped off the hand of one Luntis Julius from Taraba State.

Narrating what happened, a corps member who spoke on condition of anonimity said they are now at the mercy of hoodlums in the area.

“We are at the mercy of hoodlums. Female corps members are harassed on a daily basis.”the corps member said

Confirming the attack, the spokesperson of the Bayelsa police command, Butswat Asinim, said the information made available to him suggests the attack is a case of burglary. Asinim said the hoodlums stole the corps members’ belongings and attacked one of them with a machete. The spokesperson said two suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack.

According to reports, the suspected cult members attacked the NYSC members at about 2am on Saturday. Wielding matchets and other dangerous objects, they carted away phones, laptops and other personal belongings of the corps members.
