Customers Stranded As GTBank Server Down
Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) customers have been left stranded as the bank’s core banking systems, including its popular GTWorld app and USSD services, remain inaccessible.
Osun Defender reports that the downtime, which is part of a transition to a new Finacle Core Banking Application System, has persisted longer than initially expected, causing widespread disruption for customers across various banking channels.
Many users have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to express their dissatisfaction and concern. The issue has not only affected mobile and online banking but has also left customers unable to access funds or make transactions through ATMs.
One customer, @spoiltkid, lamented, “GTBANK under heavy attack… currently all users are locked out. Nothing works currently. Can you access your GTworld app?”
Similarly, @OgwucheAugusti9 compared the situation to another bank’s issues, noting, “Zenith bank is down for more than 2 weeks, now GTB is also down for more than 4 days… everything just they scatter under T-pain.”
Others like @ehisjamal voiced concerns about daily challenges, sharing that their expired ATM card left them in a difficult situation. “If the app doesn’t work before 5 pm, br like I go trek from Gbagada to Ikotun,” he tweeted.

For some, the outage has caused delays in essential tasks. @latmed_02 expressed frustration, writing, “I don buy rice to cook this morning now to comot my last 1k to pay don turn problem. Unna want make Dem hold me down?”
The bank had earlier communicated that its systems would be restored by noon following maintenance and an upgrade of its core banking applications.
However, as customers continue to experience downtime, they have been asking for quick solutions. @Stynee_ish tweeted directly at the bank’s support team, saying, “GTBank, what’s going on? What kind of madness is this on a Monday morning?”
With essential banking services still inaccessible for many, customers like @Jindel_Loveth are appealing for an urgent fix: “I’ve not been able to access the app since yesterday. USSD won’t go through as well. Fix up abeg.”
