The national working committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has named a nine-member presidential screening committee.
Former Senate President David Mark, will preside over the panel, with Esther Uduehi serving as the secretary.
Other members of the panel include Celestine Omehia, former governor of Rivers state; Olusegun Mimiko, ex-governor of Ondo state; Mike Ahamba, senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN); Hilda Makonto, Hassana Dikko, Akilu Indabawa and Edward Ashiekaa, senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
The panel is to screen the presidential hopefuls who have purchased and submitted the expression of interest and nomination forms to represent the party in the 2023 presidential election.
The committee is scheduled to sit on Friday at the Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja.
According to a statement issued by Umar Bature, PDP national organising secretary, on Monday, Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the party, will head a 25-member presidential screening appeal panel which is expected to sit on May 3.
The opposition party has also constituted committees to screen governorship, state houses of assembly and national assembly hopefuls.
The screening for hopefuls vying for seats in the state house of assembly, house of representatives and senate will be held on Wednesday at the state capital of each state.
The screening of governorship hopefuls will take place on Thursday at the party’s zonal secretariat except for the north-west zone which will take place at the PDP national headquarters in Abuja.
