Davido Can Be Osun Governor Someday, He Has Political DNA – Ben Murray-Bruce
A former senator representing Bayelsa East, Ben Murray-Bruce, has declared that Afrobeats sensation, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, possesses all it takes to someday emerge as the Governor of Osun State, citing his deep-rooted political lineage and public appeal.
Murray-Bruce, who made the statement during a recent episode of his widely followed “Common Sense” series, described Davido not just as an international music icon, but also as a young Nigerian with strong political potential, borne out of a formidable family legacy.
“David Adeleke, the global phenomenon better known as Davido, is undeniably an international artist and a true Nigerian superstar. He stands as one of Nigeria’s most valuable cultural exports,” Murray-Bruce noted.
He, however, stressed that beyond the glitz and glamour of the music industry lies a young man shaped by political pedigree, nurtured within a family of strong democratic influence in Osun State.
“His uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is the current Governor of Osun State. His late uncle, Isiaka Adeleke, also served as the state’s governor during the military era under Ibrahim Babangida. That’s not just coincidence. That’s a political foundation,” the former senator stated.
According to him, with the right mentoring and a clear political direction, Davido may well follow the path of his family and become a beacon of leadership in Osun.
“Considering all of these, the thought that Davido himself could one day aspire to become the Governor of Osun State seems more like a potential trajectory, especially if his political inclinations are nurtured and strategically channelled,” he added.
Ben Bruce further called on more entertainers to begin taking up roles in governance, stating that their ability to connect with a broad range of citizens, especially the youth, can usher in a new era of civic engagement and reform-minded leadership.
“In this country, there is a growing sentiment that more entertainers should consider seeking political office. Their energy, relatability, and vision could inject fresh perspective into our tired political narrative,” he affirmed.
He concluded his remarks with a bold prediction: “Davido, if you run, I predict you will win.”ll win.”
