Days After Warning Netizens About Disrespect, Ondo Monarch Seen Dancing in New Video
Days after cautioning members of the public against addressing him with casual terms such as “bro,” the Arujale–Ojima of Okeluse Kingdom in Ondo State, Oba Oloyede Adekoya Akinghare II, has surfaced in a light-hearted video showing him dancing.
The video, shared on the monarch’s verified Instagram page, shows the young traditional ruler dancing cheerfully, a moment that quickly attracted reactions across social media platforms.
Sharing the clip, the monarch reflected on his dual life as a traditional ruler and a university student, describing the challenge of balancing royal responsibilities with academics.
“Final year energy hits different when your lecture hall and palace demand excellence,” the monarch wrote.
“Balancing exams, responsibility, tradition and destiny all at once. The journey isn’t easy but purpose never is. Focused, grateful and pushing to the finish line.”
The post comes shortly after the palace issued a strong warning to members of the public to desist from addressing the monarch with informal or demeaning terms.
In a statement released by his Chief of Staff, Amb. Prince Adefemi Michael Olorunfemi, the palace insisted that the monarch must be addressed strictly as “His Royal Majesty.”
OSUN DEFENDER reports that Oba Akinghare II, ascended the throne in 2019 following the death of his father. He is regarded as the youngest Yoruba monarch. The palace has repeatedly emphasised the spiritual and cultural significance of the throne, describing the monarch as Igbakeji awon orisa — the representative of the gods on earth.
