Defection: PDP Asks Oborevwori To Vacate Seat, Approaches Court
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State to vacate his seat for defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
OSUN DEFENDER reports that Oborevwori, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and others last week left the PDP for the APC.
However, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP in its first meeting after the defection, said the party had instructed its National Legal Adviser to approach the court “and do the needful.”
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum, said the move was part of the outcome of the meeting of the NWC.
The PDP national leadership also directed the Emma Ogidi-led South-South Zonal caretaker executive to take charge of the running of the party affairs in Delta State pending the constitution of a caretaker committee.
The zonal committee was, therefore, mandated to move to Delta and take stock of the party inventory towards recovering them.
