Defection: PDP Govs In Panic Mode, Summon Emergency Meeting
Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) maybe meeting in Abuja today (Sunday) to discuss how to halt the gale of defection rocking the main opposition party.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that bigwigs in the PDP have, in the past two weeks, left the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The recent wave began on April 23 when the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, led his predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, and the entire PDP structure in the state to switch allegiance to the ruling party.
Similarly, all three Senators from Kebbi State elected under the platform of PDP are also on their way to the APC.
Sources privy to the development said barely a last-minute change, the emergency meeting is scheduled to take place at the Bauchi State Governors’ Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.
He said the meeting may also address some issues surrounding the National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting scheduled for May 27.
