Delta Governor’s Adviser Dies on Easter Monday, Husband In Custody
The Special Adviser to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Trade and Export, Chief Love Shimite, died in the early hours of Easter Monday after a brief illness.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, and police say investigations are ongoing.
The Delta State Police Command’s spokesman, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and said Shimite was declared dead at the hospital where she was rushed to.
According to Edafe, her husband, who reported her death, was placed in protective custody after he received threats from her family.
He said, “He (the husband) called the police to report that his wife died early that morning. He said her family members were threatening him, fearing he might be attacked. We brought him in for his safety.”
However, the police later received a formal complaint from the deceased’s family, accusing the husband of possible involvement in her death.
“We are currently investigating. Only an autopsy will reveal whether her death was natural or suspicious,” Edafe added.
The police assured that further updates would be provided as investigations continue.
