Governor Sheriff Oborevwori visited the troubled Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State on Monday, four days after the killings of military officers and civilians, to assess the extent of the destruction.
However, the military Joint Task Force prevented journalists from covering the governor’s assessment tour of the troubled community.
The JTF operatives used an armored personnel carrier tank to block off the main entrances to Okuama, effectively halting both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, including members of the media, from entering the community.
However, Oborevwori was welcomed by Major General Jamaal Abdulsalam, the leader of the military JTF’s 6th Division of the Nigerian Army.
They went for a closed-door meeting that lasted for about an hour.
