Demand Receipt For Illegal Bail Money Paid At Police Stations – FPRO Urges Nigerians

The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has offered a creative way for Nigerians to beat paying for administrative bail at the police station.

OSUN DEFENDER notes that the police have regularly stated that bail at their various formations is free but Nigerians have hardly ever been granted ‘free’ administrative bails in Police Stations across Nigeria.

According to a concerned Nigerian, Emmanuel Oyemachi who on Sunday took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to highlight the issue asked the police spokesman’s thoughts.

He said: “Sir is bail truly free?” Oyemachi asked.

Responding, Adejobi maintained that policemen have no legal backing to demand payment for bail as it is free.

He said, “Police administrative bail is free. If anyone demands bail money, you too demand an invoice or receipt to prove payment. If he can’t issue it, dont pay. That is a fraud. I have said this severally.”
