The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Lasun Yussuff has called on Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as the dark days are over.
He said with efforts of the present administration, better days are ahead.
In his Democracy Day message, the Deputy Speaker maintained that for the past three years, the government has taken stock of the ills committed by the previous administration and has employed measures to revamp the economy.
“What we met in 2015 was a state of corruption and bad governance. It is not easy to change the situation of things that has for years gone wrong. What gladdens my heart is the fact that PMB is working round the clock to change the situation.”
“Our Anti-Corruption Drive is in progress while we at the National Assembly remain irrevocably committed to the course of making important laws to strengthen vital institutions of government. We will not relent in making progress and improving the lives of our people.”
“Efforts are also on with our Social Intervention Programmes to improve the economy. We will ensure that our security agencies are continued to be motivated, given adequate technical support to combat the insurgents, wipe out terrorists, Fulani Herdsmen, Kidnappers and other threats to national security,” the Deputy Speaker said.
On the security challenges bedeviling the country, Hon Yussuff said the Federal Government would not rest until its mandate of safeguarding the lives of Nigerians.
He however called on Nigerians to keep supporting President Muhammadu Buhari and his government to restore sanity, fight corruption and bring to their doorsteps; the dividends of democracy.
