The Coalition of Oodua Self Determination Groups (COSEG), has issued a stern warning to those trying to drag the name of the minister of interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in the mud to desist forthwith or be ready to face the dire consequences of their actions.
The Yoruba self-determination groups issued the warning through a press statement signed by the groups’ Chairman, Dayo Ogunlana in Lagos on Thursday.
COSEG described the minister as a noble son of Oodua who is discharging his constitutional duties diligently.
The statement read in part, “it is rather funny that sponsored groups, whose sole aim of coming into life is just to demystify Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, a religious, plain hearted and God sent Minister. This disturbing act has failed, as Nigerians know who is behind this wicked act. We just need to warn seriously the persons in the veil who is behind all these to be very careful and stop forthwith this ungodly act that may hurt him in the end ”
The Yoruba group maintained that rather than show gratitude to Ogbeni Aregbesola, the main sponsor of the groups being used for this purpose is busy trying to rubbish the legacies of Rauf.
COSEG, therefore, urged the perpetrators to have a rethink and direct their principal to show gratitude to Aregbesola.
“It is very disturbing that morals on the low, rather than showing gratitude to appreciate people’s support, individuals rather misbehave and show ingratitude. It is not an omoluabi virtue to destroy a legacy built with massive sweat and the resources of the people. It is indignifying.
“We, therefore, call on all groups quickly put together and recently formed for the main purpose of demystifying and destroying the hard-earned reputation of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to advise their principal to show gratitude to Ogbeni Aregbesola for fighting tooth and nail to bring in a governor from his party to continue his good work.
“The Honorable Minister for Interior does not deserve this pull him down charade that has failed flatly because Nigerians are wiser
COSEG posited further by urging Ogbeni Aregbesola not to be distracted by the unwise sham going on in his state.
“We call on the Honorable Minister of Interior not to be distracted by the reckless moves and irresponsible game of charlatans who put into the bush the Owolabi ethos known by all for a long time. Appreciation has been the morale booster and ethos learned to motivate whoever does well, but in this case, people have decided to throw this omoluabi ethos away because of a political agenda and scheme that had failed woefully”, the group further asserted.
