Destiny’s Child Singer Michelle Williams Checks Into Mental Health Facility

TMZ has reported that Destiny’s Child singer, Michelle Williams, has voluntarily checked herself into a California mental health facility to seek help for her struggle with depression.

The 37-year-old singer is being treated in a facility just outside of Los Angeles and has been there for the past several days.

Michelle who has been open about her mental health struggles spoke about it in the past, telling Rolling Out in 2013: “For years growing up, I thought someone getting treatment and counseling was really crazy or had personality disorders, but it’s really for normal people that have some issues that they need answers to.”

In a statement on Tuesday, Michelle who famously reunited with her former girl group Beyonce and Kelly Rowland at Coachella in April, said: “For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your wellbeing.”

She continues, “Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for the betterment of those in need.”
